About SmartDealer Technologies

30+ years pioneering automotive e-commerce. 15,000+ installations. The platform dealerships and OEMs trust.

Our Story

SmartDealer Technologies Inc. was founded in Miami, Florida with a singular vision: to bring the power of e-commerce and digital transformation to the automotive industry — long before most dealerships had a website.

What started as one of the world’s first automotive parts e-commerce platforms in 1994 has evolved into a comprehensive technology suite serving franchised dealerships, OEMs, and dealer groups across North America.

In 2013, SmartDealer Technologies acquired AsyncUp and PartsWebsites, unifying years of automotive e-commerce expertise under one roof. Today, we deliver everything from DMS data management and document automation to 3D/AR accessory visualization and high-performance parts e-commerce — all built on decades of OEM partnerships and dealer-first engineering.

Scott Anderson

Founder & CEO, SmartDealer Technologies Inc.

Scott Anderson is a serial entrepreneur with over three decades of experience building automotive e-commerce and SaaS platforms. He’s been at the forefront of the industry since before the term “e-commerce” was mainstream.

The Early Years: Parts.com & The $1B NASDAQ Play

In 1994, Scott founded UEP Interactive Inc. — one of the world’s first automotive parts e-commerce platforms. He also built ePolicy, the first online extended warranty and claims processing platform, adopted by major national credit unions.

By 1998, UEP merged into a public shell to launch Parts.com, which became the #1 online OEM parts destination. At its peak, Parts.com exceeded $1 billion in market capitalization on NASDAQ. Scott executed a landmark joint venture with AutoNation (NYSE: AN) — the nation’s largest auto retailer — naming Parts.com their exclusive online fulfillment platform.

TradeMotion: The OEM White-Label Pioneer

Post-Parts.com, Scott pivoted to white-label OEM solutions, building and leading TradeMotion — the industry’s first SaaS platform for parts & accessories cataloging and direct-to-consumer e-commerce. TradeMotion powered OEM partnerships with:

  • Volkswagen of America & Canada
  • Subaru of North America
  • Kia / Mobis
  • Nissan North America
  • Chrysler / Mopar — powered the first Mopar DTC eStore
  • J.D. Power — white-label partner

Beyond TradeMotion: A New Vision

TradeMotion proved that OEM parts e-commerce could work at scale — and the industry took notice. When Reynolds and Reynolds acquired TradeMotion, Scott made the deliberate decision to depart. While proud of what TradeMotion had become, he saw the next wave coming: 3D visualization, augmented reality, and sophisticated bidirectional data products that went far beyond what a catalog-and-cart platform could deliver. TradeMotion was a success story, but staying meant being constrained by it.

SmartDealer Technologies: The Full Stack

In 2013, Scott acquired AsyncUp and PartsWebsites, unifying them under SmartDealer Technologies Inc. The vision was clear: build the complete technology stack that modern dealerships actually need — not just e-commerce, but data integration, cybersecurity, document automation, and immersive visualization. Today, SmartDealer Technologies operates two subsidiaries — PartSites LLC and InDesign Data LLC — delivering everything from AI-powered 3D accessory visualization to air-gapped DMS backup protection.

“I’ve spent 30 years connecting the dots between technology and the automotive retail experience. Every product we build solves a real problem that dealers face every day.”
